The Education Ministry has also introduced the so-called coefficients to the contest score: the "branch" one will grant additional points and will be awarded to those who choose natural and technical sciences, while the "rural" coefficient will be applied to the graduates of rural schools.
In 2017, the applicants passed the test on the Ukrainian language and literature the worst in all years. Some 17,000 entrants did not pass an external independent testing in the Ukrainian language, which is a mandatory subject for admission to the university.
