"From the morning to the evening (1800 Kyiv time) on May 21, the situation along the line of contact remained tense. Illegal armed formations of Russian-backed terrorist troops continued shelling the positions of the ATO forces," the report said.
The town of Zolote in the Luhansk sector was shelled by militants from 82mm-caliber mortars, automatic mounted grenade launchers and small arms. The village of Sanzharivka in Donetsk region's Artemivsk district was under fire from automatic mounted grenade launchers, while rifles and machine guns were used to fire on Bohuslavske.
"The village of Shyrokyne near the Ukrainian-controlled city of Mariupol has been under enemy fire for the entire day. The enemies of Ukraine in the Donetsk sector used 122mm-caliber artillery systems and 120mm-calber mortars to shell the villages of Opytne [Artemivsk district], Pervomaiske and Severne [both in Yasynuvata district]. The town of Maryinka and the village of Opytne in Donetsk region were attacked by tanks , while small arms were used to fire on the village of Pisky [near the destroyed Donetsk airport]," the ATO press center said.
