Democratic Party leaders in the U.S. Congress called on President Donald Trump to cancel his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for Monday in the Finnish capital of Helsinki.

"President Trump should cancel his meeting with Vladimir Putin until Russia takes demonstrable and transparent steps to prove that they won't interfere in future elections," Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said, DW reported.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a federal grand jury on Friday indicted 12 Russian military intelligence officers on charges of hacking the computer networks of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.
