The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world is nearing 40 million patients as of October 19.

As many as 39,959,432 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 08:24 on October 19, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (219,674 people), Brazil (153,675), India (114,610), Mexico (86,167), the United Kingdom (43,736), and Italy (36,543).

The countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (8,154,595 confirmed cases), India (7,550,273), Brazil (5,224,362), Russia (1,390,824), Argentina (989,680), Colombia (959,572), and Spain (936,560).

As many as 189 countries have been affected by the virus.
