The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 4.6 million patients as of the morning of May 17.

As many as 4,635,830 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 08:00, May 17. Over the past 24 hours, 92,920 new cases were reported, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 311,824 people, while 1,693,685 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

Most cases were recorded in the United States (1,467,884). Then come Russia (272,043), Great Britain (241,461), Brazil (233,511), and Spain (320,698).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
