The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 4.9 million patients as of the morning of May 20.

As many as 4,900,356 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 09:32 on May 20, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 323,345 people, while 1,689,377 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The three countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (1,528,566 confirmed cases), Russia (299,941), and Brazil (271,885).

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (91,921 people), the United Kingdom (35,422), Italy (32,169), France (28,025), and Spain (27,778).

As many as 188 countries have been affected by the virus.
