The United Nations is stocking up over a possible global famine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"WFP analysis shows that more than a quarter of a billion people could face severe hunger in 2020 due to the fallout from COVID19," the UN wrote on Twitter on May 12, 2020.
"We are pre-positioning 3-month stocks of food or cash assistance in or near the most fragile countries," it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, UN World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director David Beasley has said the world may face multiple famines of "biblical proportions" within a short few months as the COVID-19 coronavirus spreads.
